Autism Friendly Austin

Get to know Jackson, a young man from Louisville, Kentucky, with a special superpower and a mom who is his biggest fan and advocate.

Samuel Ehert knows personally that even a small town can be difficult to navigate for someone with autism. As a tour guide at the SPAM® Museum, Samuel is part of a larger project to make Austin, MN an autism-friendly community.

In honor of Samuel and Jackson, Hormel Foods donated $5,000 to the nonprofit Autism Speaks.

Cooperation Beyond Words

Abdullahi Moallin came to America after losing his hearing during the civil war in Somalia. At the Jennie-O plant in Faribault MN, he found opportunity and community — and he paved the way for others like him to follow.

In honor of the our Jennie-O team in Faribault, Hormel Foods donated $5,000 to the National Association of the Deaf.

There’s Something About Grace

As a child, Grace Umutesi narrowly escaped the racial genocide that swept over her home country of Rwanda. Now after an internship at Justin’s she’s pursuing her dream of bringing the entrepreneurial lessons she learned working from her mentor, Justin Gold, back to her home country.

In honor of Grace and the Justin’s team, Hormel Foods donated $5,000 to the Women’s Venture Fund. This nonprofit helps women establish thriving businesses with funding and business development programs.

Chuck Baker’s Table of Honor

What’s it like to know one of the heroes who flew dangerous missions during World War II? Ask this group of American veterans who gather every week at Chuck Baker’s table of honor in Northern California. Representing all five branches of the military, these veterans joke that the only thing they have in common is SPAM®, but their commonalities and their bond run much deeper.

In honor of this special group of veterans, Hormel Foods donated $5,000 to Operation Gratitude. It is the largest nonprofit in the country for volunteerism in support of military, veterans and first responders.

The 5th Grader Who Fed Putnam County, WV

Only 11 years old, Elise Simokat decided she wasn’t going to be a passive witness to the poverty in her West Virginia community. She created the Box-to-Belly Challenge and, with support from donations, Kroger and Hormel Foods, helped hundreds of her classmates and beyond.

Hormel Foods donated an additional $2,500 to Elise’s #BoxToBellyChallenge and $5,000 to No Kid Hungry – a national campaign aimed at helping to ensure every kid gets 3 meals a day
